A New Way to Treat Heel Pain

Last year, Dr. Vail saw over 200 patients with a severe condition of heel pain, primarily caused by plantar fasciitis. The Advanced Footcare Clinic always strives to use conservative treaments that have limited down time and recovery. However, surgery to treat heel pain typically requires a long rehabilitation period. That is why three years ago Dr. Vail began using APC (Autologous Platelet Concentrates) injections as a way to treat severe heel pain.

APC injections take the patient's own blood platelets, which stimulate growth, and inject them into inflammed areas. There are no side effects to the injections because the treatment uses the patient's own blood. The process can be repeated because it is the patient's own blood and stimulates a natural healing process. The procedure takes about 15 minutes and recovery time is only 2 weeks.

Recently, Pittsburgh Steeler Hines Ward and New York Yankee Xavier Nady have had the treatment to heal sports injuries. Ward and Nady experienced significant improvement after the treatment.

If you or someone you know is experiencing heel pain or would like more information about APC injections, please call our office at (419) 423-1888 to schedule an appoitment.
