High Heel Tips

High heels are the cause foot pain and deformities for many women. Despite knowing this some of us find it difficult to give them up. Here are a few tips to better select the types of heel that we wear.

1. Get the best fitting heels possible- High heels that do not fit properly cause the front of the foot to slide forward increasing the pressure on the toes. Look for heels that have a snug but NOT tight fit.

2. Cushion- Use a metatarsal pad on the ball of your foot. They are great shock absorbers.

3. Thicker heel and alter heel height- Wear heels that are thicker as it will give you better balance and distributes the weight on your feet more evenly. Try to alter the heel heights between you shoes as this will help to reduce problems with the achilles tendon.

4. Gradual Slope- Find heel that have a gradual slope to them rather than those that drop straight down. This will be better for the arch and ball of your foot.

5. Open toed heels- Wear open toe heels as this will help alleviate pressure on corns and callouses
